Anything you wish your / this teacher knew? You can always let me know in person or - if you prefer - send me an anonymous comment (or put a note in my box at school).
In my 17-year teaching career I had never lost any student's homework (pretty surprising considering I'm not naturally the most organized guy). Well the streak is over...
I brought my PreCalculus 11 students' Parabola Photographs projects home to mark this weekend. Most were in my bag but a few were just on the car seat. I forgot to bring these ones in. Later, Zan took the car out and - in an attempt to be helpful - picked up the projects off the car seat to bring in. I was with Simone inside the house, looking out the window. "Oh, look Simone! Mommy's home. Here comes Mommy!". Simone was waddling over to the window and I was watching her closely. Then I looked back out the window... just in time to see Zan throw her bags of groceries on the ground and take off down the street. What?!!??! She was gone a long time... five minutes at least! And when she finally reappeared, she gave me the bad news: the strong wind (did you notice how strong the wind was on Friday?) had blown two students' projects down the street. And (here's the unfortunate part) she only managed to catch ONE. Some random stranger helped her chase after the other one... but no luck. So one of you grade 11's will have to redo your project (hahaha! joking). I'll let you know next day which one of you has lost your project forever (SORRY!! SORRY!!). But look at the bright side: you will have made someone very, very happy. Imagine being the lucky person that FINDS your parabola project. Something to keep and treasure forever!! This week's Student of the Week is Nick R.
"What!?!?" you say. "How can Nick R be the SOTW? After all, he's only a grade 10 student, right? Well, right you are. But he is also a grade 10 student who is (sadly) leaving KG at the end of the year. So you now know the secret to becoming the Student of the Week before you reach your grade 12 year. Merely leave and go to a different school. Now there probably won't be anyone left at KG next year. Hahaha Anyway, I have many good memories of Nick (and also a few painful ones):
I wish you all the best Nick. You are a big personality and you have a big heart. Enjoy your new little sibling and (hopefully) your new school. Thanks for all the kind words you have shared with me over the years. Thanks also for many good laughs (you've always had a good sense of humour). I wish you all the best. Remember: you promised to come and visit lots! Please do so!! Actuary has been number 1 for at least the past 3 years. #1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 all require significant math. SO KEEP ON WORKING HARD IN YOUR MATH CLASS.
(and you still couldn't pay me enough to be a dental hygienist. All that saliva flying everywhere!!! Yuck!!!) |
