Too bad for Nicky he wasn't able to take Pre-Calculus 12 last year because he got "bumped" (he was in grade 11 and all the grade 12's took precedence). But happily for me, it meant I got to teach him again this year! Nicky is one of those rare people who seems to grasp mathematical concepts very quickly (and without too much difficulty). He often answers questions in novel ways which I have never taught him (and sometimes, which I have never even seen before). I always enjoy marking his tests for this reason.
Whenever Nicky asks me for help or whenever he is having troubles with his work, a little part of me wonders "am I making a mistake here?'. It just seems so strange for Nicky NOT to understand something. Of course, we ALL have difficulties at times with our Math, but those time are few and far between with Nicky.
Nicky has always been a very friendly and gregarious student. Even last year, when I did not teach him, Nicky would always make time to pop his head in my classroom and say "hello Mr. Wadge". What a nice guy! It'll be strange next year, when his locker is not right beside my classroom door.
Thanks, Nicky, for being such a kind and thoughtful guy. I really admire you for getting so involved at our school and being such a gentle and charismatic member of KG. Here's wishing you nothing but success in your time after high school. I am sure that you will continue to flourish. You are fantastic!
