Tobias was torn about taking Calculus this year. We had several long chats about it and - in the end - he decided NOT to take it. Truly disappointing (to me) as I really enjoyed having him in my class in grade 11.
Here's some rapid fire Tobias thoughts:
- Tobias spent a LOT of time in my class after school hours, working through his Math homework. Everyone knows what a big fan I am of hard work so, needless to say, I was pretty darn impressed with this.
- Tobias is a man of many talents. Academics. Athletics (soccer). Arts (filmmaking). What a talented guy!
- Tobias was kind enough to take a photo of the "Math Teacher Dream Team" last year (Sidhu, Habibian, Ford, and myself). It's a great photo and it will reside in my classroom for a long, long time. Thanks, Tobias.
- Tobias travels a long way to get to our school. I know there are lots of you who do this (and I guess I do too) but it always amazes me when I hear of students who travel so far to get to King George. I remember how hard it was to wake up early as a teenager and I do not think I could have been so disciplined.
- Tobias is very expressive. I have seen him in the middle of a disagreement with Anelia and Sophie. He seemed about 10 times more serious / worked up then they were. Funny! Having said that...
- I have also seen Tobias (many times) enjoying a funny story or a good joke. He laughs easily and whole-heartedly. I am a big fan of this approach!
- Tobias is a fashionable guy. I have seen him sporting some snazzy turtleneck sweaters and trendy jackets over the years. Well done, TH!!
- Tobias is a music fan. I believe indie rock is his thing. I know Amy Winehouse is one of his favourites. Wait a minute! Fashion! Music! Tobias has the same interests as ME. But not in all areas. Consider the following...
- Tobias knows NOTHING about baseball. Des and I tried to educate him a little during the playoffs last year. He was so incredulous by how long the games last and how excited we are by the slow-moving game. Hilarious.
- Tobias is a ginger. I see no need to make note of this but (his dear friend) Sophie insists that it is super important.
