One of the worst things about this year was NOT getting to teach these wonderful ladies (what made it even worse was Chloe bailed as my C.S. student. She chose to take - what?!?! - Family Studies instead!). They are both such different people (from one another, I mean) but together they are amazing friends. I know they have supported each other through some tough times over the past few years and it has been very inspiring to see.
Rachel is very cerebral and generous and has one of the best smiles in the whole school. Here's how great she is: she has taken one of the wildest and craziest KG students of all time and turned him into her committed and doting boyfriend. Impressive! I LOVE Rachel's plan for the future: she wants to be a midwife. Rachel a midwife? All I can say is YES!!!
Rachel is also one of my biggest critics when it comes to clothing. She'll often compliment me on a nice shirt or tie, but if she DOESN'T like something I'm wearing... she doesn't hold back. There is one tie I will never wear again after her STRONG reaction to it the last time I wore it. But I know she means well.
Chloe is a truly unique person. When you first meet her - with her piercings and tattoos and grumblings - you might think to yourself: "wow. She's a little intimidating". But here's a little secret for you: Chloe is one of the biggest softies in the school. This girl has so much love inside of her that sometimes it just spills out even when she doesn't want it to. I have had some awesome talks over the years with her and I can only hope that she will come back for more in the future.
One of the things I will always remember about these two happened just a couple weeks ago. I walked into my class and thought they were doing something they shouldn't have (looking at other students' personal information on my computer). I was so surprised and angry (and tired - Simone wasn't sleeping that week) that I MAY HAVE dropped an F-bomb!! Terrible! Then I realized they were actually just reading my blog. Whoops! I felt very sheepish to say the least. So one last time Rachel and Chloe: I am truly sorry! Bad bad Mr Wadge!
Thanks to you both for being such independent, strong and opinionated women. We need more of your type in the world. I have nothing but love and respect for both of you and... (sniff! sniff!)... I will miss you! All the best!
