This week's Student of the Week is Anya S.
Anya is one of the most responsible and hard-working students I have ever taught. "Hey!", you might say to yourself, "I take the same class as Anya and also work hard. Why are you singling her out, Mr. Wadge?". Well, I do believe that Anya is the only student I teach (currently) who dances OVER 30 HOURS PER WEEK!!! That's right - you know how you feel like you never have time to finish all your Math homework and that it's all so very overwhelming? Well just imagine if you had another 30 hours+ of dance (that's gotta be pretty exhausting in itself!) to contend with as well. I have had the pleasure of seeing the result of all Anya's hard work (related to dance) on two separate occasions (the last being this past Thursday evening). It is very inspiring to see someone who commits so fully to achieving excellence in something they are passionate about. Anya is a wonderful dancer! So poised! So graceful! Such strength! But what I enjoyed most of all, both times I have seen her, was seeing how much she seems to ENJOY performing. She looks truly happy up on stage! Some days, in math class, it seems that nobody is overly committed to getting much work done. You can practically read everyone's minds: "I'll just do it for homework". But the one person I can ALWAYS count on to be working diligently is Anya. I guess it makes sense why (she has no TIME to do it all after school hours) but I still appreciate it and admire her very much for her determination and self-motivation. I'm so glad you made the decision to come to KG, Anya! And I'm so lucky to have gotten to teach you. Best of luck to you in your future endeavours. Whether they involve dance or not, I know that you will be successful due to your perseverance, your unwavering commitment, and your fantastic personality. "Bravo" to you! But, hey, she IS very cute (love the pigtails!) I wore the exact same tie yesterday as the guy at 3:00. Must be a math-lover (or math-loser?) thing. Thanks Ms. Hughes! Here's something ELSE the English department was probably not aware of (along with (Alexis's pen") Jacquline, so sorry! I've been saying it wrong all these years!! |
