I have taught Borna all five years... save one in grade 9 when he was lucky enough to have Ms Sidhu. Throughout those years, Borna has always been a man of opposites. Laid back but diligent about his work. Loud and boisterous but always well behaved and respectful. Super happy (almost) all the time but when he's mad... he's REALLY mad!
All this to say he is a unique and intriguing person. Just when you think you have figured him out he displays some new aspect to his personality.
I am very proud of Borna. After five years (since the first time he was in my class) he has finally figured out how to use Simplegradebook. What an accomplishment!!! Before the test we just wrote a couple weeks ago, the pattern has always been the same:
(1) Wadge marks test and enters marks into simplegradebook.com
(2) Wadge uses Remind to text out "I have marked your tests"
(3) Wadge waits 2 - 3 minutes for the inevitable...
(4) Borna texts: "Hey. Can't seem to figure my simplegradebook out. Can you tell me what I got".
I believe this charade has taken place around 25 times by this point... but no longer!!! Way to go, BH!!
Another constant with Borna is effusive praise of Yours Truly. Whether it is calling me The Goat or praising my teaching methods (which I sure appreciate) or disparaging other teachers (which I do not condone in any way), Borna always has my back. Not sure I deserve all the love, Borna, but it's awfully kind of you.
One thing I love about Borna is how quick he is to laugh about... anything. I guess I'm much the same and I think it's a great way to be. In fact, my favourite quote of all time (attributed to Oscar Wilde): "look is too important to be taken seriously.
It's been a blast teaching you, Borna. May you never lose your big smile and affable nature. I'll miss you next year and I love ya!
