This summer, July 15 to July 20 inclusive, the PME and PME-NA conference is coming to UBC. The Psychology of Math Education conference began in 1976 and has grown over the years to become the largest international math education conference in the world. This is the first time the PME or its North American counterpart has come to Vancouver. Here is the website:

Short story: we need student volunteers. I appeal to you to help gather a group of students from your school (math department groupies?, service hour junkies?). We know that this volunteer opportunity can support community service hours as part of the Grad transitions needed for graduation as well as IB volunteer hours.
Volunteers will be provided food and a t-shirt that they will be able to keep. They will also gain experience in being part of, and observing, an international conference; they may also attend some presentations. Their responsibilities will include being present in hallways and rooms to help with directions, schedule information and for some, technical support. There will also be some clean-up and escorting, carrying, and couriering. The usual conference things.
