- no added sugar. This means no candy, no chocolate, no soft drinks, no (most) desserts, no ketchup, etc.
- Read ingredients and watch out for added sugars with "sneaky" names:
Cane juice crystals
High Fructose Corn Syrup
And, of course, any ingredient that includes the word "sugar" in it
- Here's the good news. I'm not going to be as excessive as some people are about this. I am going to allow myself all of the following (in moderation):
100% pure maple sugar
- Drink lots of water!
- If you "cheat", acknowledge it to someone and get back on track!
