...he's doing it for over 2 hours! Absolutely incredible! Dennis Kimetto set a world record by winning the 41st Berlin Marathon in 2 hours, 2 minutes, 57 seconds on Sunday. That's 42.195 km he ran, in just over two hours!
His pace? 2:55 for every km. I would be surprised if there were more than a couple of people in our school who could run a single km that fast. Unbelievable!! I was going to make a joke about "getting my 9-month daughter into pot" but I didn't think it would be appropriate...
Get reminders about upcoming quizzes, tests, projects, collaborative days, blog updates, etc. All from your math teacher. Now THAT's exciting!! Pure class!
This week's Student of the Week is Iago A (who will tell him? I suspect he isn't a regular Wadge-blog reader)
I taught Iago four times, from grade 8 to grade 11. Somehow he always managed to JUST (and I mean JUUUUUUST) pass each one of my classes. I have to admit it was a little frustrating at times. Here's this - obviously very intelligent - kid who I can't convince to work a little harder. Ah well. Iago has one great redeeming quality working in his favour, namely the fact that he is completely loveable. I mean how can anyone ever be angry at Iago? He's too friendly, jovial, relaxed, etc. Just looking at the picture above makes me smile. I remember when I found out that Sophia would be going to Brazil for 5 months. I figured Iago (being Brazilian) would be pretty enthusiastic when I told him. You can imagine my surprise (horror?) when Iago responded: "What? You can't let her go there Mr Wadge! It's a crazy place! Bad stuff happens!" Yikes! Not exactly what I was hoping to hear. Well, now that Sophia is home safe, I guess we can laugh about it. No idea what Iago is doing (send me an email I.A.!) but I wish him all the best. Such a nice guy! Really, really happy I got to teach him four consecutive years! Take care Iago (especially when you are travelling back to Brazil!). |
