Observations and thoughts from last night's graduation ceremony and dinner:
(1) the girl's heels just keep getting higher and higher. I'm not sure how much more extreme this can get. Only one girl did a complete wipe-out so I guess that's not too bad
(2) the boy's continue to dress better and better (than in previous years). Slim suits, well-tailored pants (not dragging on the floor like in the past), bow ties, narrow ties, three-piece suits, navy, grey... it's all good.
(3) the ceremony continues to get longer and longer. Warning to the grade 8's (Grad 2017): I think your ceremony could break the 3-hour mark. (But I do LOOOOVE the ceremony so it's fine with me).
(4) Ms. E continues to dance more than all the other teachers combined (mind you: I WOULD dance. It's just that nobody asks. Story of my life...)
(5) the free Photobooth thing was awesome last night. I think the teachers liked it more than the kids.
(6) Of the places we've gone to since I've been at KG, here is my ranking of best to worst in terms of the location / room / view: Pan Pacific, Shangri-La, Georgia Hotel, Sutton Place
(7) Of the places we've gone to since I've been at KG, here is my ranking of best to worst in terms of the FOOD: Georgia Hotel, Pan Pacific, Sutton Place, Shangri-La.
(8) Quote of the night from grad Olesia.P. as she crossed the stage: "Don't give up on your dreams... go back to sleep". That one made me laugh.
(9) Best misread quote (by Mr. Scrimshaw) as student crossed the stage: "thanks to my parents for not making my education a priority..." Whoops!
(10) probability of me getting through next year's ceremony (Grad 2014) without multiple teary-eyed episodes: 0
Good luck to the Grads of 2013! Such a friendly, caring, service-oriented, personable group of young people. I started at KG the same year as you (a few months AFTER you actually) and I hate to see you go. You will be missed!!
