In all honesty, I had decided that the entire Blog was done. Finished. Kaput!
Shocking to all of you, but I got the distinct impression there was only about 5 people in total who read it each week (thanks Jordan! Thanks Ms Sidhu! Thanks Des! Thanks Ryan!)
Anyway, I only ever do Student of the Week for grade 12's (except for a few people who swindled me over the years: Maya! Kat G!) and, for the first time all year, I am teaching grade 12's. And there are some incredibly wonderful students in my Calculus 12 class, including a good number who I taught numerous times over the past five years. So I need / want to revive the Blog for the sole purpose of making this group of students Student of the Week (individually).
At the end of this year, the blog will truly end, at least for a good long while. As many of you know, I will be leaving King George at the end of the year. For sure until Christmas time and perhaps (probably?!) forever. It's time to try working in my actual community (Sunshine Coast) and (despite how much I LOVE KG) not commuting for 2 hours to get to work.
I started the blog almost nine years ago! And the first Student of the Week was Moe G in September of 2013. That's a long time ago. And that's a LOT of students who I have written nice things about. But it's been easy. King George kids are such a diverse, engaging, enthusiastic, and special group of people. It makes me very, very sad to leave but I am so thankful for all the amazing students I have gotten to teach and to get to know during my time at King George.... including the wonderful person below.
