I bought my first ever bow-tie this week. Well, my first ever REAL bow-tie that needs to be tied (as opposed to a clip-on tie). I have learned two things from this experience:
(1) I look absolutely ridiculous in a bow-tie. It makes my true geekiness WAY too apparent
(2) tying a bow-tie is WAY harder than a regular tie. You know how annoyed / frustrated / despondent you get some times with difficult math questions (word-problems anyone?). That's how I felt with this damn tie. At one point I ripped it off and threw it on the ground. Talk about a ridiculous image.
And then, once I FINALLY succeeded in getting it tied correctly, the results were... uh... less than inspiring. Don't expect me to wear my bow-tie to school anytime soon (or wear it AT ALL for that matter).
Anyway... I must have watched about 20 videos (each of which purported to make tying a bow-tie about as easy as washing a raspberry. LIARS!!!) before I found THIS one. And this one actually helped! Even if you DON'T want to tie a bow-tie, watch the video. It's THAT good!!
